The deadline for scholarship applications is February 15, every year (with the exception of students entering as freshmen). Submit your resume and an essay that describes why you deserve to receive the scholarship. In your resume, please include information on all past and current scholarships you have been awarded, including amounts.

The Aerospace Engineering Scholarship Committee will select recipients from those that applied for the scholarships. The selection criteria consist of a combination of academic performance and service to the Department, the School of Engineering, and Student Organizations. Awards will be announced March 15 each year.
The Scholarships are administered by the Aerospace Engineering Department Scholarship Committee. Recipients will be honored at the Aerospace Engineering Department's annual awards banquet.

Joel Don Grantham Scholarship
The Goldsmith Aerospace Merit Scholarships were established in 1996 to recognize outstanding students in Aerospace Engineering, especially those who have not been receiving scholarships from other sources. These scholarships are possible due to the generosity of Irene M. Goldsmith.
These one year scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate Aerospace Engineering students who will become sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the academic year the scholarship will be given. The award will not be renewable but the recipients may apply for renewal as long as the eligibility requirements are met.
All KU Aerospace Engineering students who are showing the evidence of high level of achievement (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2), and who will be taking sophomore, junior, or senior classes in the academic year the scholarship will be given are eligible. While receiving the Scholarships, the recipients must remain in the Aerospace Engineering program taking at least 15 credit hours in both the fall and spring terms, continue to make progress toward the BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.2.
The Goldsmith Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen were established to recognize outstanding incoming students in Aerospace Engineering. The scholarships are possible due to the generosity of Irene M. Goldsmtih. The Scholarships will be renewable for four years under conditions described below.
All incoming Aerospace Engineering freshmen who show the evidence of high level of achievement during their high school years as demonstrated in their GPA, ACT (or SAT) scores, and their class rank will be eligible.
While receiving the Scholarships, the recipients must remain in the Aerospace Engineering program taking at least 15 credit hours in both the fall and spring terms, continue to make progress toward the BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.2.
The Daryl E. Wagner Scholarship was established in 1994. The Wagner Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Aerospace Engineering student who will become a junior in the academic year the award will be given. The scholarship is not renewable.
All KU Aerospace Engineering students who were graduates of a Kansas high school and are showing the evidence of high level of achievement (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2), and who will be taking junior classes in the academic year the award will be given are eligible. While receiving the Scholarship, the recipient must remain in the Aerospace Engineering program taking at least 15 credit hours in both the fall and spring terms, continue to make progress toward the BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.2.
The Capt. John North Memorial Scholarship was established in 1990. The North Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Aerospace Engineering student who will become a sophomore in the academic year the scholarship will be given. The scholarship is not renewable.

The Daryl J. Schueler Scholarship was established in 1997. The Schueler Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Aerospace Engineering student who will become a junior or senior in the academic year the Scholarship will be given.
When the Scholarship is given to a junior, it will be reviewed for the senior year if the recipient is considered to be the best candidate.
The Willis A. Waas Scholarship was established by Andrea Waas, Mr. Waas' daughter, in 1990 to assist students at the University of Kansas in obtaining their private pilot license. This award is given in memory of Willis A. Waas, a 1951 KU graduate, who was killed in a 1987 small plane crash caused by mechanical failure.
The Waas Scholarship provides up to $2000 to a full-time KU student in pursuit of a Private Pilot Certificate.

The Waas Scholarship fund is used to establish a line of credit at a flight school. The line of credit will be available for one year from the time awarded.
The Larry L. Jones Aerospace Engineering Scholarship was established in 1998. The Jones Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Aerospace Engineering student who will become a junior or senior in the academic year the Scholarship will be awarded. The Scholarship may be renewed if the eligibility requirements are met.

The Joel Don Grantham Scholarship was established in 1987 by the Grantham family in memory of their son, Joel Don Grantham who died in a tragic car and train accident in Lawrence in 1987. Joel Don Grantham was a student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
The Grantham Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Aerospace Engineering student who will become a sophomore in the academic year the Scholarship will be initiated and will be awarded for a period of three years as long as the requirements described below are met. Therefore, a new recipient of the Scholarship will be selected in every three years.
All KU Aerospace Engineering students who are from the United States, preferably from Kansas, and who are showing the evidence of high level of achievement (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2), and who will be taking sophomore classes in the academic year the award will be initiated are eligible.
