2017 Amelia Earhart Fellowship recipient Bella Kim profiled by Zonta International

Thursday, May 10, 2018

KUAE Ph.D. graduate and future Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University, Bella Kim, who was selected for the Amelia Earhart Fellowship in 2017, discusses her motivation and experiences, female leadership in aerospace engineering, and the importance of the fellowship for students.

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established by Zonta International in 1938 in honor of pilot Amelia Earhart. Annually, 35 women pursing PhD degrees in aerospace-related sciences or engineering fields are awarded a fellowship of $10,000.

“When I encourage students, or female students,” Kim says, “I want to show them that if you are really not giving up on any challenge that you face as an aerospace engineering student, you can achieve wonderful things.”
