AIAA visits aircraft companies

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), is an organization that is used to create a community and ignite passion within the aerospace community.  This early October, 35 KU AIAA student members took a business trip to Wichita, KS to visit with three aerospace companies - Cessna, Bombardier, and Beechcraft.  Students were able to view different inner workings of aircraft companies, as well as find insight on what to expect of different companies.  As well as tours of all three aircraft companies, the organization had time to have speak with Bob Steveur, a representative for Beechcraft, KUAE alumni, and advisory board member.  “The whole experience was a good way for our members to gain professional experience,” says Brooke Reid, KU AIAA President. The organization hopes this trip is the first of many professional activities of the academic school year.
